NAS Kingsville is home to the Texas Army National Guard’s 454th Engineer Route Clearance Company (RCC). Higher headquarters, the 111th Engineer Battalion, is located at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas.
Mission & Capabilities:
Mission: Conducts detection and limited IED neutralization along routes and within areas of support to enable force application, focused logistics and protection.
Capabilities: Clearance Squads conduct identification, neutralization, clearing, and marking of explosive hazard (EH) along routes.
Search and Extraction (S&E): The 454th Engineer Route Clearance Company (RCC) is also assigned an S&E role as part of the Homeland Response Force (HRF) for FEMA Region VI and is designed to augment Urban Search and Rescue Team Type III CBRN Teams. Capabilities include conducting surface rescue at structural collapses, including the removal of debris to extricate victims.
