Cmdr. Reza A. Chegini attended Basic Training in Great Lakes, Illinois, December 1992, promoted to the rank of Boatswain's Mate Chief Petty Officer in 2000, and commissioned as Deck LDO in 2003. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business, and a Master’s degree in Management.
At sea, Chegini has served on ships in both the Atlantic and Pacific fleets with deployed operations in the Atlantic, Caribbean, Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea and Pacific areas of operation. His sea assignments include tours on USS Trenton (LPD 14) in support of Operation Continue Hope (Somalia), Operation Support Democracy (Haiti), Operation Assured Response (Liberia), TWA Flight 800 Salvage Operation (New York), Operation Joint Endeavor with NATO Stabilization and Implementation Forces (Bosnia), USS San Jacinto (CG 56) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq), USS Wasp (LHD 1), in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Operation Sea Dragon (Horn of Africa), Plankowner USS New York (LPD 21), Inspector at Board of Inspection and Survey completed inspections of 76 ships, FDNF USS George Washington (CVN 73) in support of Operation Damayan (Philippines), three CVN hull-swap/homeport shift, and USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) in support of 10 months combat deployment during ship’s first voyage in seven years and subsequent homeport shift.
His assignments ashore include Recruiter in Charge at Navy Recruiting Station Washington DC, Port Operations Officer at CFAC, South Korea, Naval Station Mayport, and CFAY, Japan.
In July 2022, Chegini became the seventh Commanding Officer of Transient Personnel Unit/Pre-Trial Confinement Facility Jacksonville. His personal awards include FY18 Navy and Marine Association leadership, Meritorious Service Medals, Navy Commendation Medals, Navy Achievement Medals, Good Conduct Medals, seven Battle Efficiency Awards, as well as various other units, campaigns, and service decorations.
