“This marks a significant milestone for NAS Whiting Field and Training Air Wing Five as we continue to invest in the future of Naval aviation. The opening of the new North Field air traffic control tower directly enhances the safety, efficiency, and capacity of our T-6 flight operations, ensuring we can train the next generation of warfighters. This modern capability strengthens our ability to produce mission-ready aviators required by the fleet, while reinforcing our commitment to readiness and operational superiority. I am proud of our team and partnerships for the dedication taken to make this tower the Navy’s newest air traffic control capability,” said Capt. Ted Elkins, commanding officer of NAS Whiting Field.
