Departments

Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba is on the front lines for regional security in the Caribbean area. The base is about 400 air miles from Miami, Florida. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay has many missions.The base supports the ability of U.S. Navy and Coast Guard ships, along with allied nation ships to operate in the Caribbean area by providing contingency and quality logistical support with superior services and facilities. The base also supports U.S. Federal agencies in U.S. migrant operations to help care for displaced migrants from the surrounding area.

Additionally, we provide assistance to the Fleet in support of narco-terrorism oeprations, which occur in this region.

NAVSTA GTMO is not a joint operations command, however we support joint operations. Joint Task Force Guantanamo (JTF-GTMO) is a joint command and is the organization responsible for and operates the detention center.

 

The mission of the Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba Dive Locker is to serve democracy in communist waters, to provide world-class diving services, personnel and small craft rescue; recompression chamber services, and to help our divers understand how they contribute to the overall mission of the United States Navy.

To achieve our mission, the dive locker aggressively develops and certifies dive personnel to the highest levels as set forth by the Navy Dive Manual and Personal Qualification Standards. The distinctive capabilities of our dive locker personnel ensure continued readiness for the Caribbean’s only NAVFAC/NAVSEA certified. Recompression Chamber and MKIII Light Weight Dive System.

In order to better serve our customers and minimize the amount of time we have to be away from the worksite, the HRO will be transitioning to an appointment system. This will ensure that the the HRO point of contact is available and prepared for the emloyee's visit. Review the POC listing which identifies each specialist's/assistant's area of coverage. We recommend that employees contact the appropriate POC and schedule an appointment. Walk in customers will be served, however, there may be occassions that the individual they wish to see is not immediately available and may have to wait.

ISD is responsible for supporting the information technology (IT) functions at Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Additionally, ISD is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Cellular System, LMR Systems, and the IDS System.

The Intelligence Department (N2), U.S. Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (NAVSTAGTMO) provides continuous intelligence support to the Commander, NAVSTAGTMO. Specifically, the N2 advises and assists COMNAVSTAGTMO by providing pertinent, relevant, timely and accurate intelligence information concerning threats to NAVSTAGTMO and foreign countries significant to military planning and operational readiness.

The N2 also supports tenant commands to include, NAVSTAGTMO Operations (N3), Marine Corps Security Force Company (MCSFCO), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS), International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the U.S. State Department (DOS).

The N2 is also the Special Security Officer (SSO) for NAVSTAGTMO.
