The Safety and Occupational Health Office provides guidance and programs for Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay and its tenants, and conducts the Motorcycle Safety Course and Automobile Association of America (AAA) Driver Improvement Program (DIP) Training.

Everyone is highly encouraged to take the driver improvement course and the motorcycle safety course is required for anyone operating a motorcycle on the base and it is also required for all military people who desire to operate a motorcycle on or off base.

In addition to learning how to better operate vehicles, the classes may help reduce your insurance payments. Also, the T-CLOCK Inspection is a must for all motorcycle operators! Click on the links in the box on the right for a copy, for class schedules, applications and additional safety information.

If you are an active duty service member, you are required to use the Travel Risk Planning System before taking a trip and before submitting leave request papers.

With a solid reputation for safety programs and efforts, Kings Bay has earned several consecutive Secretary of the Navy Safety Ashore Awards and Chief of Naval Operations Safety Ashore Awards.

Also noteworthy, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recently awarded Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay "Star Program" status for its Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), which represents the "best of the best" in safety from businesses and organizations across America. The base is the first Navy installation to receive this prestigious status. For more information about VPP, please visit the OSHA VPP site.

Please, never drink alcohol and drive and do not allow anyone to drink and drive. If you drink, use a designated driver! If you find yourself in a situation where you have been drinking and you have no other option, call your command duty office or chain of command. Remember: Over the limit, under arrest.
