Welcome to Naval Air Station Meridian

Naval Air Station Meridian trains Sailors and Marines in aviation and technical related fields. It is home to Training Air Wing One, Training Squadron 9, Training Squadron 7, Naval Technical Training Center, Marine Aviation Training Support Squadron One and the Regional Counterdrug Training Academy.

NAS Meridian is located in East Central Mississippi.

The operation of a Unmanned Aerial System or Drone (UAS) of any size is strictly prohibited onboard NAS Meridian and Joe Williams Field at any altitude, whether the operator is located inside or outside of the installation. This prohibition includes the housing area. Anyone found onboard NAS Meridian operating a UAS or in possession of a UAS that has not been properly registered in accordance with the FAA guidelines may face disciplinary or administrative action, including but not limited to base debarment. It remains unlawful to make any photograph, sketch, picture, drawing, map, or graphical representation of naval installations or equipment without first obtaining permission of the commanding officer. Doing so may result in a fine and/or imprisonment.

Local Counselors Visit NAS Meridian

NAS Meridian School Liaison welcomed area school counselors from Clarkdale, Southeast, Northeast and West Lauderdale schools, Oct 24. The counselors met with CAPT Davis and enjoyed a tour of the installation including the flight line, military working dog program and the Youth Age Care Center to learn more about the jobs of military members to better aid them in addressing the needs of the military children in their schools.

Meridian named “Best Galley” in Navy Region Southeast

The Roy M. Wheat Galley onboard Naval Air Station Meridian is named the Best Galley in Navy Region Southeast for their exemplary service and food. The galley also received their 15th 5-Star Accreditation and will be competing for the Captain Edward F. Ney Award. The Captain Edward F. Ney Memorial Award, named for the Navy captain who served as the head of the Subsistence Division of the Bureau of Supplies and Accounts from 1940 to 1945, is the highest honor given to U.S. Navy food service operations to recognize food service excellence. The galleys honored must achieve a five-star rating from the Navy evaluation team during an annual evaluation. The award is designed to improve food services by encouraging competition among food service operations.
