Variety of Legal Services Available
The Judge Advocate General's (JAG) office advises the Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay, commanding officer on legal matters and provides advice to base personnel concerning ethics, military justice, commercial solicitation, outside employment, the Freedom of Information Act, anger management letters, caution letters, immigration, fundraising, Privacy Act, Magistrate Court documents, debarment, and other issues.
The office is open Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office is located in Fluckey Hall, Building 1063.
Commercial Solicitation/Contracting
Your first stop should be our Conducting Business page and the Small Business Administration. Commercial solicitation applies to all person’s desiring to conduct a private commercial business onboard Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. Commercial business may only be conducted with prior authorization from the Kings Bay commanding officer.
To get permission from the commanding officer, you must submit a written letter stating what commercial service you propose to perform, onboard the base. You may also get the following forms from the Command Judge Advocate’s office.
You must complete both forms in their entirety and return them to the office. The Criminal Consent form must be filled out for every person who will be working with you, and they must be notarized and returned to this office as well. Ensure you also submit a copy of your business license.
Fundraising
The JAG must approve all requests for fundraising onboard the base. You must submit your request in writing well in advance of your fundraising date for approval or denial.
Immigration
Aliens and non-citizen nationals, who are serving in the United States Armed Forces, are eligible for naturalization. You must be serving in an active-duty status during current Operation Enduring Freedom, or be honorably discharged from the Armed Forces while Executive Order 13269 is active.
As long as the executive order is in effect, all eligible military naturalization applicants will be eligible under section 329 regardless if they are still or might be eligible under section 328 of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
