CMDCM (SW/EXW) Joshua B. Joiner

Master Chief Joshua B. Joiner is a native of Irving, Texas and graduated from Irving High School in 2001. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August 2001 and attended Basic Training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Ilinois. After basic training, he attended EN “A” School at Great Lakes. 

In March 2002, he reported to USS CURTS (FFG-38) in San Diego, California where he completed a Western Pacific and Southern Pacific deployment as an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician, and a Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) team member.  While onboard, he advanced to Petty Officer Second Class and earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare qualification. In September 2005, he reported to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 12 Charleston, South Carolina where he served in the boat and vehicle maintenance shop. In September 2006, he was assigned to Inshore Boat Unit ELEVEN, which restructured into MESRON NINE in Everett, Washington where he was the 3MC and completed an Individual Augmentation tour with MESRON THREE to Fujairah, UAE in 2009.  During his time onboard, he was advanced to Petty Officer First Class and earned his Expeditionary Warfare qualification. In March 2010, he reported to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois where he served as a Recruit Division Commander (RDC). During this tour, he was selected to the rank of Chief Petty Officer and earned his Master Training Specialist qualification. 

In June 2013, he reported to USS TAYLOR (FFG 50) Mayport, Florida where he served as the Engineering Departmental and Auxiliaries Division Leading Chief Petty and completed a deployment in support of Operation Active Endeavour and Operation Martillo in the Black, Mediterranean, and Caribbean seas. While onboard, he was selected to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer and was a part of the decommissioning crew. In July 2015, he reported to Coastal Riverine Squadron ONE, San Diego California as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) for over 720 Active, Full Time Support, and Reserve Sailors.  While onboard, he completed the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Khaki 194) in Newport, Rhode Island and was selected to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. In November 2018, he reported to USS DETROIT (LCS 7) Gold Crew, Mayport Florida as the Command Master Chief. While onboard, his crew was the first ever Freedom Variant LCS to deploy on the East Coast supporting Operation Martillo in the Fourth Fleet AOR. In June 2020, he reported to USS JOHN PAUL JONES (DDG-53) as the Command Master Chief.
 
Master Chief Joshua B. Joiner reported to Naval Air Station Key West in June 2023 as the Command Master Chief.
 
His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5), Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation, Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation, and various other campaign, command, and personal awards. He also holds a Bachelor Degree in General Studies from Columbia College of Missouri and graduated from the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course in June 2018.
