From the Command Master Chief
Welcome to Naval Air Station Key West, Florida. I am confident that your assignment and relocation - or visit - to this command, and to the Florida Keys, will be both a fulfilling and exciting part of your Naval career.
NAS Key West is the U.S. Navy’s premier training facility for tactical aviation squadrons. Local aerial ranges enable aviators to engage in training maneuvers within minutes of takeoff. The station is equipped with a sophisticated tactical combat training system, which tracks and records combat aerial maneuvers. As a host facility, NAS Key West provides and maintains facilities and services for tenant commands, and ensures quality of life for all personnel.
The air station is located within a National Marine Sanctuary. Our mission is carefully integrated with the environment and in concert with the community. Working in partnership with our maritime community, we make a difference by protecting South Florida's fragile eco-system.
As the Command Master Chief, I advise the Commanding Officer on matters of importance to the enlisted community. As the senior enlisted advisor, I serve as an information link to the CO and an advocate for enlisted personnel.
If you are a spouse or family member of a current NAS Key West crew member, you can get additional information from the Fleet and Family Support Center. Their services strengthen the lines of communication between the families and the command and they can be reached at (305) 293-4408 (DSN: 483-4408).
We are committed to providing "World Class Service" to all of our customers, and strive to ensure that each member of the command achieves their fullest potential. We look forward to your contributions in achieving these goals.
Hotels in the local area can be expensive and may not be conveniently located. Prior to your arrival in the Key West area, contact your sponsor and they will assist you in locating a place to stay, if you so desire.
Again, I welcome you to NAS Key West and look forward to meeting you. I’m sure your tour here will be challenging and most satisfying.
