CDR Amanda Bradford

A native of Lahaina, HI, CDR Bradford enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve in April 2002. Upon completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL, she reported to Reserve Intelligence Unit JICPAC 0794 at ASW Base, Point Loma, CA. While there, she advanced to the rank of Petty Officer Second Class in June 2004.
 
Selected for the Navy Health Services Collegiate Program, CDR Bradford entered San Diego State University in the fall of 2004. She earned her Master of Public Health and received her commission into the Medical Service Corps in May 2006. Shortly thereafter, she attended Officer Indoctrination School in Newport, RI and reported to Naval Medical Center San Diego, CA in July 2006. She served as a Division Officer in the Patient Administration Department, as well as the Medical Administrative Officer for the Director of Healthcare Business. During her tour, she deployed with the USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) as the Patient Administration Officer for Pacific Partnership 2008.

Her next assignment took her overseas to Fleet Surgical Team Seven, Okinawa, Japan in April 2009. She worked as the Medical Regulating Control Officer for Amphibious Squadron 11 aboard the USS Essex (LHD-2). During “Operation Tomodachi”, CDR Bradford was hand-selected by Commander, Task Force 76 to serve as the CTF-76 Deputy Surgeon and Medical Planner to provide critical medical planning and administrative support for the five-ship amphibious force providing humanitarian assistance to the Japanese citizens following the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March 2011.
 
CDR Bradford assumed the duties as Patient Administration Department Head at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in June 2011. Two years into her tour, she was asked to serve as the Flag Aide to the U.S. Pacific Command Surgeon at Camp Smith, Honolulu, HI. She facilitated operational exchanges and cooperative health engagements, advancing the strategic rebalance to the Asia Pacific. She was then assigned to Navy Medicine West as the Regional Patient Administration Officer in September 2015 where she implemented initiatives that have had a positive and lasting impact on the management of our wounded, ill, and injured personnel.
 
CDR Bradford reported to Naval Health Clinic Patuxent River, MD in June 2018 and served as the Director for Administration where she guided all aspects of the command’s logistical, manpower, facilities, and administrative support. In June 2021, CDR Bradford transferred to the Defense Health Agency in Falls Church, VA where she served as the Operations Deputy Chief for the J-33 Operations Division. In May 2024, she reported to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Beaufort as the Director for Administration and Naval Support Facility Beaufort Executive Officer.
 
Her personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (x2), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (x3), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various campaign and personal awards.
