LCDR TEMITOPE O. AYENI

LCDR Ayeni is a native of Lagos, Nigeria. He enlisted in the United States Navy in June 1999 as an undesignated Seaman Recruit and excelled through the ranks to Chief Petty Officer in 2008. His enlisted duty assignments were USS Detroit (AOE-4); 3rd Battalion 8th Marines, Division Surgeon’s Office, 2D Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC; Field Medical Training Battalion-East; Tactical Training and Exercise Group, Marine Corps Air Ground Task Force Command, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, CA, and Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, Norfolk, VA. While enlisted, he attended college independently and earned his Bachelor’s and Masters of Science degrees in Healthcare Management and International Health. In April 2010, he commissioned as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the Medical Service Corps. Upon completion of Officer Development School, he reported to U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, Japan in June 2010. During this tour he served as the Assistant Department Head for Materials Management; Fiscal Officer; Director, Resource Management and Comptroller, U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka, Japan and Transition Team Leader of the landmark hospital relocation from Camp Lester to Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. In June 2013, Lieutenant Commander Ayeni reported to the Naval Postgraduate School and graduated in December 2014 with a Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in Material Logistics Support. In March 2015, he reported to Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms, CA, the Medical Mecca of the Mojave, as Department Head for Materiel Management. In September 2015, he deployed to the NATO Role 3 Multinational Medical Unit in Kandahar, Afghanistan as the Logistics and Operations Officer, and returned in May 2016 to complete his Department Head tour. In February 2018, he reported to the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Falls Church, VA where he served as Deputy Director for Medical Logistics Policy. In November 2018, he was appointed by the Chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery to serve as Assistant Specialty Leader for Medical Logistics. In June 2020, he reported to the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations to serve as the Executive Assistant and Flag Aide to the Director, Medical Systems Integration and Combat Survivability (OPNAV N44) and Chief, U.S. Navy Dental Corps. He reported to Navy Medicine Readiness Training Center, Beaufort, SC in July 2022 where he serves as the Director for Administration with additional duties as Executive Officer, Naval Support Facility, Beaufort. Lieutenant Commander Ayeni is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and past President, Healthcare Executives of Okinawa. He is a Certified Defense Financial Manager with Acquisition and a Master Training Specialist. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval War College Command and Staff Program, Uniform Services University of Health Sciences Global Health and Global Health Engagement Course and Financial and Material Management Training Course. He is a recipient of the ACHE Military Excellence in Healthcare Management Award, Regent At Large Award for Individual Accomplishment in Diversity, Charles R. Loar Literary Award for excellence in professional and technical writing, BUMED Logistics Award for Military Operational Medical Logistician of the Year, and the Lt. Thomas Eadie Award for Military and Academic Excellence. His awards include the Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation (two awards), the Navy “E” Ribbon, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medial (six awards) and Navy Achievement Medal (five awards).
