CMDCM Michael J. Lopez

Command Master Chief Lopez is a 1989 graduate of Springfield Christian High in Springfield, Missouri.  He enlisted in the Navy in September 1992, attended Recruit Training and Airman Apprentice training in Great Lakes, IL and reported to the “Dragonfires” of Sea Control Squadron 29 at Naval Air Station North Island, CA.

Master Chief Lopez deployed with Carrier Air Wing ELEVEN (CAG 11) for WESTPAC ‘93 aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln with service in Operations Southern Watch and Restore Hope as a Plane Captain for the S3B Viking.  In October 1994, he attended BU “A” school in Gulfport, MS and reported in January 1995 to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FIVE (NMCB) completing deployments to Puerto Rico and Hawaii.  In May 1997, he reported to NAVSTA Pearl Harbor and served as a project supervisor.  Master Chief Lopez then reported to NMCB-1 in October 2000 where he deployed to Diego Garcia, served as B/C Company Operations Chief and the AOIC/Ops Chief of Detail Iwakuni.  He reported to Naval Construction Training Center in 2003 and was promoted to Chief.  He served as the Quality Control instructor, BU “A” ITRO Course Manager, and Charlie Company Chief.  Master Chief Lopez reported to “FEARLESS” NMCB-74 in September 2006.  He served as Guam Material Liaison Office Chief, Echo Company Chief, Convoy Security Element “Juggernaut” Commander, Detail Buehring AOIC, Battalion Operations Chief, Alfa Company Chief and Air Det Chief.  During this tour he was promoted to Senior Chief and Master Chief.  In 2011 he served as the FIRST Naval Construction Division Operations Chief.  He was selected for Command Master Chief in 2012 and served at Navy Cargo Handling Battalion ONE (May 2012 - Nov 2014), Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ONE (Dec 2014 – Dec 2017) and Amphibious Construction Battalion TWO (Dec 2017 – May 2019) before reporting to his current duty as Command Master Chief of NCBC Gulfport. 

Master Chief Lopez is designated as a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist, Expeditionary Warfare Specialist and Master Training Specialist. He holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Construction Technology and Vocational Technical Education and is a Dean’s List Graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy. 

His personal awards include: Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal (six awards), Army Achievement Medal, and other unit and personal awards.
