Command Master Chief Helen Daniel

Command Master Chief Helen Daniel is a native of Richmond, Ohio. She joined the Navy in 1995 and attended basic training in Great Lakes, Ill., followed by equipment operator “A” school in Gulfport, Miss. She then reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 where she completed four deployments during a five-year tour.

Upon transfer to Special Boat Team 22, she was assigned as equipment support and completed the 9502 Navy Instructor course. In 2003, she transferred to 20th Seabee Readiness Group as equipment operator lead key billet instructor and, upon advancement to Chief Petty Officer, became the transportation chief.

In 2006, she transferred to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 1, where she was the Alfa Company operations chief, Air Detail platoon chief and the embarkation chief deployed to Okinawa, Japan. While forward deployed in Iraq, she also served as Task Force Sierra Alfa 6/5. She completed two tours with the unit.

In 2009, she transferred to Naval Construction Training Center as the Alfa Company commander and lead high risk instructor for the crane school house. In 2011, she transferred to NMCB 7 as Alfa Company leading chief petty officer for an Afghanistan tour. One year later, the command decommissioned and she transferred to NMCB 74 as the family readiness officer and the command training leading chief petty officer. In 2013, she advanced to master chief petty officer promoted to command master chief (CMC). She was the command master chief for the Rota, Spain, deployment and decommissioning of NMCB 74 in 2014.

In 2014, she transferred to the Seventh Naval Construction Regiment as the senior enlisted leader, working with both NMCB 14 and NMCB 27. She reported as command master chief at NCTC Gulfport in 2016, NMCB 133 in 2018, and Naval Construction Group 2 in 2020.

Daniel is a graduate of the CMC/Chief of the Boat Course, the Navy Senior Leader Seminar, and the United States Naval Senior Enlisted Academy, and was awarded the Peter Tomich Leadership Award. She holds a bachelor’s degree organizational leadership from Fort Hays State University and a Master’s degree in Strategic Leadership from the University of Charleston, W. Va. She has attended both the Navy Senior Leader Seminar course in Monterey, Calif., and the Keystone course in Suffolk, Va.
