Commander Bryan Beyer is a native of Slidell, Louisiana and graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in May 2006 and received his commission upon completion of Officer Candidate School in August of the same year. He also holds a Master of Science in Construction Management from LSU with a graduate minor in Disaster Management.
Prior to reporting to NCBC Gulfport as the Executive Officer in June 2022, Commander Beyer served as the Executive Officer for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 during two deployments in support of four geographic combatant commanders. His previous operational tours include Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ONE, where he served as the Convoy Security Element Officer-in-Charge (OIC), Embark Officer and Detail Wolverine OIC/Afghan National Army Partnering Lead for the Battalion’s 2011-2012 Afghanistan deployment, and a tour with the 22nd Naval Construction Regiment and Naval Construction Group TWO, where he served as the Assistant Operations Officer. He also deployed to Haiti as part of a Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) contingency engineering response team in support of Operation UNIFIED RESPONSE following the January 2010 earthquake, and he later deployed in 2012 as part of a Navy Expeditionary Combat Command Adaptive Force Package in support of Hurricane Sandy relief efforts throughout New York and New Jersey.
Commander Beyer’s previous shore assignments include Construction Manager at Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Production Officer for Naval Support Activity Norfolk, and Assistant Public Works Officer at Northwest Annex while attached to NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic, and Director of the Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Division at Naval Support Activity Annapolis for NAVFAC Washington. He also completed a tour as a Master Instructor for the Engineering & Weapons Division at the U.S. Naval Academy.
Commander Beyer is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Louisiana, is a member of the Defense Acquisition Community, and is qualified as a Seabee Combat Warfare Officer. He is also a Certified Educational Facilities Professional and LEED Accredited Professional (Building Design and Construction). His personal decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (7 awards), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), and other unit, service, and campaign awards.
