Commander Lakisha P. Washington

Commander Lakisha P. Washington is a native of Slidell, LA.  She attended Southern University and A&M College where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Math Education and received her commission in December 2002 through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) there. 
At Sea, CDR Washington completed her Division Officer tours aboard USS YORKTOWN (CG-48) in Pascagoula, MS as the 1st LT and Electronic Warfare Officer and aboard USS MONTEREY (CG-61) in Norfolk, VA as the Damage Control Assistant.  She qualified Officer of the Deck (OOD) underway, Surface Warfare Officer (SWO), and Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) during those tours.  CDR Washington then received orders as NROTC Instructor at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS, where she graduated with a Master’s in Economics.  She completed Department Head tours in Norfolk, VA as Combat Systems Officer (CSO) aboard USS ELROD (FFG-55) where she qualified as Tactical Action Officer (TAO) and as CSO at Destroyer Squadron 22 (DESRON 22).    
She transitioned to the Navy Reserve in 2014 and served as Reserve Pay Officer at Carrier Strike Group 4 (CSG 4) in Norfolk, VA before being mobilized as a Global Force Management (GFM) Action Officer at United States Fleet Forces (USFF) in Norfolk, VA.  CDR Washington was selected to transfer into the Full Time Support community in 2015 and completed a tour as the Operations Officer at Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) Norfolk in Virginia Beach, VA.  She then served as Commanding Officer (CO) of NOSC Corpus Christi, TX and as CO of Navy Reserve Professional Development Center (NRPDC) New Orleans, LA.  She is scheduled to assume duties as Executive Officer of Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans in August 2023.
CDR Washington’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit and service ribbons.  She is married and has four sons.​
