CDR Charles B. Abbott

CDR Charles Abbott was raised in Bishop, TX before attending the University of Nebraska where he completed a degree in Biological Sciences in May 2023.  After commissioning, he attended flight training in Pensacola, FL, San Antonio, TX, and Jacksonville, FL before reporting to his first operational sea tour.
In 2006, Abbott joined the “Pelicans” of Patrol and Reconnaissance Squadron Four Five (VP-45) at NAS Jacksonville, where he attained the qualifications of Mission Commander and Instructor Tactical Coordinator while completing deployments in support of CTF-47, CTF-57, CTF-67, and CTF-72.
In April of 2009, he reported to NAVAIRSYSCOM and was attached to PMA-290 at NAS Patuxent River, MD as an Avionics Systems Project Officer (ASPO).  During this assignment he served as the Acoustics and Mission Systems ASPO and Fleet Interface Team Lead.
 In December 2011, Abbott reported aboard Special Projects Patrol Squadron Two (VPU-2) and assumed the duties of Command Security Manager and NFO Training Officer.  During his time at VPU-2, he achieved the qualifications of Sensor Coordinator, and Instructor Sensor Coordinator.  
In January 2014, he checked aboard Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two Zero (VX-20) as a Project Officer for the MQ-4C Triton program while serving as Command Security Manager and Government Flight Representative.  
In November 2015, Abbott joined the “Fighting Tigers” of Patrol and Reconnaissance Squadron Eight (VP-8) and fully qualified on the P-8A Poseidon and served as Department Head for the Command Services, Administration, Training, and Maintenance departments.
Following his successful tour in VP-8, he completed distinguished staff officer tours aboard CTF-72 as Task Force Maintenance and Logistics Officer and US Pacific Fleet as Sensitive Reconnaissance Operations (SRO) Officer.
More recently, Abbott has served as Current Operations Officer for Operational Team TWO aboard the E-4B Nightwatch aircraft and the National Airborne Operations Center at Offutt AFB, Nebraska. Abbott assumed his current position of NASCC Executive Officer in October 2025.
Abbott has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Air Medal (two awards), the Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and various other unit, campaign, and service decorations.
