Command Senior Chief Hersey is a native of Kansas. She graduated from Parsons High School in 1997 and enlisted in the United States Navy in August 2001. Following boot camp at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois, she completed Information Systems Technician “A” School and later attended “C” School at Surface Fleet Training Center, Norfolk, Virginia.
Her first duty station was Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station (NCTS) Keflavik, Iceland. Subsequent assignments included DDG 67 USS COLE, where she served as a communications IT, and NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) Mons, Belgium, where she was promoted to First Class Petty Officer. In 2010, she reported to USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3), where she was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and contributed to numerous combat readiness operations and deployments. She later reported to the Operational Control Center where she served as Leading Chief Petty Officer of the Submarine Watchfloor.
In 2018, she reported to Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) to complete the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) pipeline training before transferring to Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), CREW 121, USS ST. LOUIS (LCS 19). As a member of the pre-commissioning crew, she played a key role in bringing the ship to life and participated in its commissioning. While assigned as the Combat Systems Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer, she guided her team through multiple certifications and maintenance availabilities.
From 2021 to 2022, she served as Chief Information Officer for Mine Warfare Division 22, providing direct oversight of critical cyber and communications readiness. In 2022, she reported to Mobile Tactical Operations Center (MTOC) Eleven as the Senior Enlisted Leader and assumed additional responsibilities as the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) for TOCRON-11.
She was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer on August 16, 2021, and to Command Senior Chief in 2025. She joined the NSA Panama City team as the Senior Enlisted Leader in May 2025.
She holds an associate degree in Communications from American Military University, earned in 2012. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a minor in Digital Forensics at Purdue Global University.
Her personal decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (multiple awards), and various campaign, unit, and service awards.
