Command Master Chief Duriel D. Crittenden is a native of Alabama. He graduated from C. Leon King High School in Tampa, Florida in May 2001, and immediately entered the U.S. Navy attending basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois graduating September 11, 2001. Upon graduation from basic training, Seaman Recruit Crittenden attended Dental Technician “A” School in Wichita Falls, Texas and Field Medical Service Technician School at Camp Johnson, North Carolina. Prior to reporting to his first duty assignment at Naval Dental Center, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina after being onboard for 18 months, DN Crittenden was reassigned to 2D Dental Battalion, 22d Dental Company where he deployed to Camp Buehring Kuwait and Camp Fallujah Iraq with 2D Medical Battalion, Charlie Surgical Company in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
At sea, Crittenden served with 2D Dental Battalion, 22d Dental Company, where he deployed to Camp Buehring Kuwait and Camp Fallujah Iraq with 2D Medical Battalion, Charlie Surgical Company, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 2D Marine Division, 3D Battalion 9th Marines deployed to Al Asad Iraq, as both the battalions Preventive Medicine Technician and Battalion Aid Station Platoon Sergeant. 3D Battalion 8th Marines deploying with the 26 Marine Expeditionary Unit, BLT 3/8 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and was assigned as the Battalion Commander’s Medical Advisor for shore operations and the Senior Medical Department Representative. Additionally, he served with CG II MEF as the Leading Chief Petty Officer for II MEF Health Services Support and the Leading Chief Petty Officer for 8th Communication Battalion and 2D Radio Battalion.
Ashore, Crittenden was assigned to Naval Dental Center, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Naval Branch Health Clinic, Kings Bay, Georgia, and instructor duty at Field Medical Training Battalion-East. Additionally, Crittenden was assigned to shore special programs as the Command Climate Specialist for Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training and the Office of the Naval Inspector General. Crittenden assumed the duties of Command Senior Chief at Navy Support Activity Panama City in July 2021.
His personal and academic achievements include a Master of Arts in Management and Leadership, a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Care Management, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (7 awards), Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Insignia, and Navy Master Training Specialist qualification.
