Command Master Chief Charlie Luna

Command Master Chief Luna enlisted in the Navy in December 1995 and attended Basic Training in Great Lakes, Illinois.  After graduating, he attended Builder “A” School in Gulfport, Mississippi.
 
His first duty station was U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FIVE, reported in July 1996 where he deployed to Okinawa (2x), Australia (as part of DFT Tandem Trust), Andros Island (2x) and NCTC Port Hueneme (as FSB, SCBAT Instructor).  After successfully completing his first battalion tour he checked into Public Works Department, CFA Okinawa in February of 2002 where he was a Maintenance Control Director in support of CFAO and Tenant Commands.  
 
He was selected for advancement to Chief Petty Officer in 2004.  In August 2005 he reported to U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FOUR where he completed three deployments; Okinawa as the MLO Officer; Iraq, Ballad as the OPS Chief of Task Force Mike; and Homeport Liaison.  
 
In 2008 was selected for advancement to Senior Chief Petty Officer.  His forth duty station was Thirtieth Naval Construction Regiment (30NCR); positions consisted of the TSCP OPS Chief.  Planner in support of CCADs and Exercises in support of NMCB’s PACOM Deployments; and the CUOPS (R33C) and FUOPS (R35C), executing back to back deployments (2009-2010, 2011-2012) with the Regiment in Afghanistan, Kandahar in oversight expansion throughout ISAF Regional Command South.  His fifth duty station reported to NMCB FIVE where he completed 3 deployments and held the following positions; Training Chief (S7C); HQ Company Chief (H5); and Battalion Operations Chief (S3C).
 
In 2015, he was selected for advancement to Master Chief Petty Officer.  He transferred and reported to Okinawa as the Camp OIC of Camp Shields (Camp Czar); Thirtieth Naval Construction Regiment (30NCR), provided guidance and support to deployed NMCBs. His next assignment was to U.S Naval Mobile Construction Battalion THREE in September 2018, as the Charlie Company Leading Chief Petty Officer (C5), deploying to Okinawa.  CMDCM Luna reported to Navy Cargo Handling Battalion ONE, as the Command Master Chief in 2020 and 22nd Naval Construction Regiment in 2023.
 
CMDCM Luna reported as the Command Master Chief for Naval Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport in March 2025.
 
Master Chief Luna is a graduate of the CMC/Chief of the Boat Course, the United States Naval Senior Enlisted Academy. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Administrative from Trident University International.
 
Master Chief Luna’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation, Navy Commendation (6), Army Commendation, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
