COMMANDER NIGEL T. MORRISSEY
Executive Officer, Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport
Commander Morrissey is a native of Marshfield, WI. He enlisted in the Navy as a Nuclear Machinist Mate in March 1995. Following Nuclear Power School and Nuclear Power Prototype, he served on the USS Maryland (SSBN 738) from March 1997 to April 2002 making eight strategic deterrent patrols. He then transferred to shore duty as a member of the Performance Monitoring Team under Submarine Group Ten serving from April 2002 to April 2004. He was selected for the STA-21 commissioning program where he graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He earned a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2019.
Commander Morrissey reported to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, GA from January 2007 to April 2010. He served as the Environmental Officer for NSB Kings Bay, the Project Management and Engineering Branch Head and the Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Division Director for PWD Kings Bay. In 2010, he reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ONE THIRTY-THREE in Gulfport, Mississippi where he served as the Assistant Officer in Charge and Alfa Company Commander of Detail Guam. In 2012 he reported to the 25TH Naval Construction Regiment as the EUCOM and AFRICOM Action Officer until receiving orders to the 22ND Naval Construction Regiment Forward in Rota, Spain where he served as the Officer in Charge and CTF 68, N5 Future Plans Officer. In 2015 he reported to PWD Rota where he served as the Production Division Director. In 2019 he reported to Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach as the Public Works Officer and in 2022 he reported to 22ND Naval Construction Regiment in Gulfport, MS as the Chief Staff Officer.
Commandeer Morrissey is currently serving as the Executive Officer of Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport.
Commander Morrissey is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas, a Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, Submarine Warfare Qualified, a member of the Acquisition Professional Community, a Certified Energy Manager, and a member of the Society of American Military Engineers.
