CMDCM (AW/SW) Aaron M. Barnby

Command Master Chief Aaron M. Barnby is a native of Mesa, Arizona. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December 2000 and completed basic training as well as Hull Technician "A" school in Great Lakes, Illinois.

In 2001, he reported to his first duty assignment aboard the USS Emory S. Land (AS-39) as a quality assurance craftsman and quality assurance inspector. He was assigned to Point Loma Submarine Repair Facility in 2005 as a coded welder and the R-1 Lead Petty Officer. In 2008, he reported to "Crew Fearless" as Engineering Department LPO where he qualified as an Engineering Officer of the Watch and embarked on USS Chief (MCM-14), USS Pioneer (MCM-9), and USS Ardent (MCM-12). In 2010, he reported to the USS Frank Cable (AS-40) as Repair Hull Maintenance Division Production LCPO. During a tour at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes in 2013, he led 5 recruit divisions and served as the USS Constitution Recruit Barracks LCPO and the RDC "C" School LCPO, earning his Master Training Specialist qualification.

Barnby’s command tours include Command Senior Chief for “The Bloodhounds” of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 30 at Point Mugu, California, Command Master Chief of USS William P. Lawrence (DDG-110) in Honolulu, Hawaii and Command Master Chief of NAS Whiting Field in Milton, Florida. Master Chief Barnby reported onboard to COMDESRON SEVEN in October of 2023.

His educational accomplishments include an associate’s degree in Maintenance and Mechanics from Thomas Edison State College. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 195), CMC/COB Leadership Course (Class 162) and Santa Rosa County Leadership Course (Class 35).

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two gold stars); Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (one gold star); Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (one gold star); Navy Good Conduct Medal (five awards); Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal; Navy Accession Training Ribbon and various unit awards.
