Command Master Chief Andre D. Brown hails from Vicksburg, Mississippi. He entered active naval service in August 1993, reporting to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes. Upon completion of recruit training he attended Apprenticeship Training.
He is a graduate of Senior Enlisted Academy Class 171, Command Master Chief Capstone Class 116, Naval Post Graduates School Navy Senior Leadership Seminar, USFFC Executive Leadership Symposium and Senior Shore Leadership Course. He has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Studies from Excelsior College, and a Masters of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University.
Master Chief Brown’s sea assignments are USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron Light 45 (Sea Comp), Detachment 9 attached to USS Paul F. Foster (DD 964), USS Benfold (DDG 65), USS Higgins (DDG 76) and USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53), USS Boxer (LHD 4), USS Independence (LCS 2) Crew 202 and Strike Fighter Squadron 105.
Master Chief Brown’s shore assignments include Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron 5 (VQ 5), Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron Light 45 (Shore Comp), Naval Air Station Meridian, Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic CRUDES Mayport, LCS Squadron 2, Naval Base Ventura County.
In 2005, he was promoted to Chief Navy Command Career Counselor while assigned to NAS Meridian. In February 2008, he was assigned as an Individual Augmentee to Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center Headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia, as the GSA-IA Career Counselor for all personnel deploying to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Horn of Africa. In 2010, he was promoted to Senior Chief and assigned to Naval Surface Force Atlantic in Mayport, Florida. In May 2013, he was promoted to Master Chief.
Master Chief Brown’s command tours include CMC onboard USS Independence (LCS 2) Crew 202. While assigned, his crew completed 9 months of test and evaluation events, which combined cutting-edge tactics and technology to demonstrate the US Navy's end-to-end execution of the mine countermeasure mission package kill chain, remotely prosecuting mines without placing a ship or crew in the mine threat area. Additionally, he led his crew through the first ever 3M certification and Board of Inspection and Survey material inspection on an Independence variant LCS. This led to LCS Crew 202 being awarded the Retention Excellence Award, Green H and Battle E for 2014 and 2015. While serving as CMC for VFA-105, Master Chief Brown completed COMPTUEX and deployment onboard USS Eisenhower (CVN-69) in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, which led to the command being awarded the Retention Excellence Award and Blue H for 2016 and 2017. Master Chief Brown reported to LCS Squadron 2 from February 2018 to March 2020. During his tour, the squadron delivered and commissioned seven Freedom class LCS ships. LCS Squadron 2 also conducted seven Final Contract Trials and deployed the first east coast LCS ships into the 4th Fleet area of operations. Master Chief Brown reported to Naval Base Ventura County in May 2020.
Master Chief Brown assumed the duties as Command Master Chief Navy Region Southeast on May 16, 2022.
Master Chief Brown’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two gold stars), Navy and Marine Corps Commendations Medal (four gold stars), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two gold stars), and numerous individual campaign and unit awards.
