Master Chief Christopher Reid was born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Eatonton, Georgia. He enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve in the Training and Administration of the Reserve (TAR) Program in September 1996. He completed Basic Training in Chicago, IL December 1996 and attended Yeoman “A” School in Meridian, MS where he graduated as the top of his class.
During his tour at Commander, Naval Expeditionary Logistics Support Group (COMNAVELSG) he was assigned as order writer, admin clerk, and admin LPO where he was advanced to Yeoman Second Class Petty Officer and was selected as the Sailor of the Year.
His next tour of duty was at Strike Fighter Squadron 203 as the Admin LPO/Order Writing Supervisor, where he was designated as an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and advanced to Yeoman First Class Petty Officer.
In 2004, he reported to Naval Reserve Readiness Component Command Southeast in Jacksonville, FL where he was assigned as the Admin LPO and was selected to chief petty officer. He then reported to Commander, Navy Reserve Forces Command in 2006 and served as the Force Structure Leading Chief Petty Officer. After a successful tour, he transferred to Navy Reserve Professional Development Center as the Training Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and World Class Customer Service Lead Instructor. While there, he earned his Master Training Specialist qualification.
In May 2012, he reported to Fleet Logistics Support Squadron Five Nine (VR-59) as the Manpower and Administration Leading Chief Petty Officer, where he was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer. He then transferred to Commander, Navy Reserve Forces Command as the Manpower Assignment Coordinator and Command Services Senior Enlisted Leader where he was selected for the Command Senior Chief program.
In September 2018, he reported to Navy Operational Support Center Phoenix, Arizona, as the Command Senior Chief, where he was selected to Command Master Chief. In November 2021, he reported to Navy Reserve Center North Island as the Command Master Chief. In December 2023, he assumed the duties as Command Master Chief, Navy Air Station, Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, TX.
Master Chief Reid earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwood University and is a Graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards) as well as numerous unit awards.
