Commander Keith Foster

Cmdr. Keith Foster is a native of Price, Utah and a 1983 graduate of Carbon High School. Foster entered the Navy via the Delayed Entry Program in February 1988 and started boot camp at Recruit Training Center in Great Lakes, Illinois in August of the same year. Upon graduation, he reported to Service School Command Great Lakes and completed the Machinist Mate/Boiler Technician "A" School and was detailed to the Fleet as a boiler technician. In 2000, having served at sea and ashore, he was commissioned to Ensign under the Limited Duty Officer Program. Foster holds an Associate in Science degree in Applied Marine Engineering from Coastline College.

At sea tours include duty on ships home ported in East and West Coast ports and in Japan. His officer sea tours include Main Propulsion Assistant in USS DUBUQUE (LPD 8), Chief Engineer in SWIFT (HSV 2), Main Propulsion Assistant in USS ESSEX (LHD 2), Main Propulsion Assistant USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6) and Chief Engineer USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7).

Ashore assignments include Machinist Mate/Boiler Technician "A" School Great Lakes, Illinois where he earned his Master Training Specialist. As an officer, Foster served as Quality Assurance Officer/Planning Officer/Assistant Repair Officer with South Central Regional Maintenance Center; Chief Engineer Afloat Training Group in Ingleside, Texas; Material and Maintenance Officer (N4) Commander Destroyer Squadron Fourteen; Production Officer South East Regional Maintenance Center and Director of Officer Engineering Training Surface Warfare Schools Command.

Personal awards include three Meritorious Service Medals, seven Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, three Good Conduct Medals and various unit and campaign awards.
